AICB Office Remains Closed Following Extension of MCO to 12 May 2020, but Business Operations Continue as Usual

23 Apr 2020

As announced by the Prime Minister this evening, the 4th phase of the Movement Control Order (MCO) is scheduled to commence on 29 April 2020. As such, AICB’s physical office will continue to remain closed from now until 12 May 2020 (or until the MCO is lifted), but business will proceed as usual from Mondays to Fridays, from 9 am to 6 pm. If you would like to get in touch with us, kindly email our Member Services team at [email protected], which is preferred, or call us at 1300-88-6833.

Despite all of us working from home, the past week has been rather eventful. We are pleased to share that we have several online initiatives lined up for you, including our first webcast collaboration with The Asia School of Business on helicopter money. Discussions will centre on the various stimulus measures emplaced by Governments globally, and whether these measures are a step in the right direction when countering the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the coming weeks, we will hold more webinars under AICB’s Empowering Bankers Webinar Series, which is part of AICB’s efforts to bring greater online sharing and knowledge to our members during these unprecedented times. Among the topics that will be covered include digital banking and how it is changing Malaysia’s financial landscape, as well as a timely look at the future of banking in overcoming the impacts of COVID-19.

You may also have received various communications from the AICB team on the rescheduling of examinations and workshops to September 2020. As always, we place a high priority on your safety and these — along with other future member initiatives — are designed with your wellbeing in mind. To stay updated on our latest announcements, developments and initiatives, I encourage you to visit our website and social media pages frequently.

As Ramadan begins tomorrow for all Muslims, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to all of you who are observing this holy month. Although we may have to forego several Ramadan traditions this year, I believe that this will still be a deeply meaningful time for you. Selamat berpuasa, have a blessed time with your family, and remember to stay safe!
