3. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) / Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL)

AICB recognises that knowledge and skills can be acquired from a broad range of learning. Members who have acquired knowledge and skills via certificated programmes of other recognised awarding bodies may apply for exemptions within the CB Framework.

There are two types of prior learning for which exemption can be granted:

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the evaluation to accredit an applicant’s certificated achievement.
  • Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) is the evaluation to accredit an applicant’s relevant skills and knowledge gained through work experience, training and other external qualifications.

To apply for exemption via RPL / RPEL, members must submit their applications with the relevant supporting documents through the AICB Member Portal.

C. Exemption Fees

Members who wish to apply for exemption via RPL / RPEL are subject to an application fee. A module exemption fee will also be applicable upon approval of the application. For more details, please refer to Table 3 below.
