The AICB Open Day and Member Induction was held on 22 October 2018 at Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia, and is one of AICB’s initiatives to create greater awareness on AICB’s membership and a better understanding of our suite of qualifications.
Themed “Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Automation, Ethics and Accountability”, the Special Talk session featured guest speaker Dr Jasmine Begum, Director of Legal, Government & Corporate Affairs at Microsoft Malaysia and New Markets, who shared her insights on the challenges of ethics in a digital age.
The event also included an Information Session on AICB’s flagship qualification — the prestigious Chartered Banker qualification — and other specialist qualifications. Presented by key speakers from the Asian Banking School (ABS) and the International Compliance Association (ICA), the session highlighted the significance of relevant professional qualifications in strengthening the competencies of bankers.
In the panel session, five AICB members who have completed various AICB qualifications shared their experiences and the challenges they faced in completing their respective qualifications, and underlined the value of the qualifications to their careers. They also emphasised the importance of AICB membership, citing recognition, support and opportunities for personal and professional growth as among the benefits accorded to an AICB member.
Over 90 newly-admitted AICB members from the banking and finance industry attended the event.
