The Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB) hosted its 7th Chartered Banker Conferment 2024 on 18 May 2024 @ 10 am, which was held physically and broadcasted from the Auditorium, Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia. To date, over 37,500 banking talents have graduated with various AICB qualifications and this year, 4 individuals were conferred the Fellow Chartered Banker (FCB) status and 103 individuals were conferred the Chartered Banker (CB) status. The ceremony also recognised over 230 members who attained the Associate Chartered Banker designation.

The ceremony commenced with the welcome address by AICB Chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim and remarks by Chartered Banker Institute, UK Managing Director Dr Giles Cuthbert, followed by a special address by Bank Negara Malaysia Deputy Governor Adnan Zaylani. Subsequently, we witnessed the conferment of FCBs and CBs, as well as the recognition of Associate Chartered Bankers and the presentation of Excellence Awards to the respective winners. The newly conferred FCBs and CBs then took the oath of commitment to the Code of Professional Conduct, led by AICB Chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim.

Over 400 individuals attended the ceremony, including the AICB Council, CEOs of banks and key representatives of the affiliate institutions. AICB would like to congratulate the following newly conferred FCBs who have contributed extensively to the betterment of AICB and the banking and finance sector: Dato' Sulaiman Mohd Tahir, Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad; Dato' Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, Managing Director, Khazanah Nasional Berhad; Dato' John Chong Eng Chuan, Group Chief Executive Officer, Global Banking, Malayan Banking Berhad; and Mr Angus Salim Salleh Amran, Group Treasurer, RHB Bank Berhad.

The Chartered Banker is a prestigious designation awarded jointly with the CBI, UK, and recognises the diligence and determination of the conferees in attaining the gold standard in banking.
