An accomplished business leader in the financial sector with a wealth of experience in the professional development and financial sphere, Edward is responsible for the Institute’s overall growth and sustainability. He also chairs the Future Skills Framework committee, which leads the development of the nation’s first future skills framework for the financial sector in Malaysia.

Prior to joining AICB in September 2021, Edward held various leadership positions in his 11 years of service at ACCA, including his previous role as Regional Portfolio Head — Maritime Southeast Asia following four years as Country Head of ACCA Malaysia, where he contributed significantly towards developing and driving growth-oriented strategies for ACCA across the region.

Edward received the Chief Executive’s Award from ACCA in 2017 and the Academic Excellence Scholarships from USA Groups in 2000. He holds an MBA in Operations Management Science from the University of North Texas and a BBA in Finance from Pittsburg State University. He is passionate about aviation and portrait photography and is an avid fan of the Civilization strategy game series.

Mithila leads the development and implementation of the Institute’s membership framework, including continuing professional development and professional conduct framework.

She began her career in PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) providing financial audit services, and subsequently joined Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), conducting banking supervision. Prior to joining AICB, Mithila worked in CPA Australia, where she held the membership and governance portfolio.

Mithila graduated in Accountancy and is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

Shireen spearheads the Institute’s sustainability, thought leadership and strategic communication and collaboration initiatives.

Her professional experience spans CRM Strategy, Branding and Capital Markets. Prior to joining AICB, Shireen worked in Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) in the areas of international regulatory standards and capacity building. She has also worked in international advertising agencies and business conglomerates based in Kuala Lumpur and Dubai.

Shireen graduated from the University of Kent, UK with a LL.B. (Hons) in Law.

Farhan Zamri is responsible for growing AICB’s membership, reputation and influence throughout the Asian region. In his previous role, he was instrumental in expanding the Malaysian market of a prestigious accounting body from the UK, growing it into the highest revenue generator outside of the UK.

Over his 13 years of experience, he managed special projects and business development initiatives, spearheading and building the talent pipeline for chartered accountants. Working alongside various government bodies, he formed strategic partnerships with multiple higher education institutions, schools and corporate employers to enhance the reach of the ICAEW qualification across all socio-demographics, successfully promoting social mobility within the B40 segment.

Before joining the corporate sector, Farhan Zamri began his career as an entrepreneur, where he secured funding to kickstart a financial and advertising technology platform, which was successfully launched on Apple Store and Google Play. Farhan Zamri is qualified with the ACCA, UK.

Dr Cheah You Sum brings with him strong leadership experience in education, where he has managed academic departments, overseen curriculum development, conducted research, and mentored both students and faculty members. With over 10 years of experience in the academic field, he has held senior academic roles, including Professor and Head of Department at Sunway University, where he played a key role in strategic planning and securing AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditation. His professional background in the financial services sector prior to joining the academia further complements his accomplishments in education. Also, Dr Cheah has an extensive publication record and has presented at numerous conferences on key industry topics.
